William Cody Stapp

Cody Stapp joined Callahan & King in late 2015 after serving as an Administrative Law Judge for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. In that capacity he interacted with countless inmates, presided over parole revocation hearings, and helped the State of Texas discern whether a person had violated the terms of their parole.

Cody received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. After graduation, he received practical experience as a court clerk for judges in Grayson County, Texas. Cody went on to receive his law degree from Baylor Law School where he served as an editor on the Baylor Law Review and received numerous awards for academic excellence.

While he has worn many hats, Cody’s career path has brought him full circle to serving the needs of the people of central Texas. Cody began his law practice handling family law and criminal defense cases in Waco. He is happy to return to that practice, and his keen analytical skills are greatly appreciated by his clients.

Drawing from his experience in government service and private practice, Cody helps those in his charge to navigate the complexities of the court system while constantly pushing that system to work in his clients’ favor. Cody is also passionate about criminal justice reform and trying to make the court system more efficient and fairer to everyone.

Cody lives in McLennan County with his wife, their two children and three dogs, and his Peloton bike.
